The Patio Theater re-opening

A Chicago neighborhood movie theater, The Patio Theater will be re-opening next month!
Find out more in Timeout Chicago's feature in the latest issue. Or visit The Patio Theater's facebook page.
It's a beautiful building. How terribly exciting that it has been restored to its 1920's glory! Can't wait to step foot in it again.

Woman- or Minority-owned Business Certification Workshop

Last night I attended a Workshop on getting certified as a Woman- or Minority-owned Business presented by ArtHouse Chicago and Women's Business Development Center.
It was very gracious of Melissa Stanley of ArtHouse Chicago to host such a useful workshop. The evening was an encouraging stepping stone forward in starting a business.
Meg Herman of the Women's Business Development Center had some constructive advice to offer the group. It's exciting to know that there is such a resource as the WBDC available.
I'm looking forward to swinging by Natalie Boyett's The Chicago Weaving School in the near future. How exciting that there is another Fiberina in town AND she runs a textile school! Awesome!
The other great thing about the workshop was the interesting women I met, who are all at various stages of running their own business. What a reassurance that we all CAN do this.

Coffee Tabletop Studio

Since space is at a premium and needs to be multi-use, the studio has temporarily set up shop atop a coffee tabletop.
For kicks, I've begun making pasties. Hence all the spangles and tassels talk.
